My Class Dates: Tuesday, June 3 to Thursday, June 7, 2018
Location: Milwaukee WI
This coming spring, June 3-7, take a jewelry making class from Marilyn Gardiner at the Bead&Button Show in Milwaukee WI. Her classes are suitable for jewelry artists at all levels including those at the beginner level, and they use Marilyn’s unique jewelry kit designs and her excellent, easy to follow, step-by-step, illustrated instructions. If you like chain mail jewelry then you’ll definitely want to take a class or two.
All classes offer metal choices that include Argentium Silver, Silver Filled (1/10th sterling silver outer tube with a brass core), Jewelers Bronze, and Copper projects This is a response to current fashion trends for jewelry in a variety of metals.
All classes emphasize careful work habits and professional-looking work. We’ll discuss how to locate related sources & resources, and we’ll think about creative options for future projects that build on the skills you are learning.
Kits include step-by-step instructions that are clearly illustrated with photos.
Kits also include saw-cut, hardened jump rings that we make ourselves and carefully polish.

Candy Cane Bracelet

Bring Supplies: Beading mat, magnifiers, task lamp.
Bring Pliers: 2 pairs, smooth jaw, flat nose pliers (or bent nose or chain nose).
Materials in Kit: Step-by-step, illustrated instructions, copper jump rings, and a coordinating toggle clasp.
Makes up to a 9” bracelet. All rings are saw-cut and polished.
In-Class Kit Options/Upgrades:
$85 for Argentium Sterling
This is another striking new bracelet that I’m smitten with. Like the Staggered Byzantine, it expands and contracts like an accordion and is an unusual design. I love the unadorned version, but I can also see a version with beads added along the outer points. Can you spot the Boxchain building blocks?
Pre-requisite: Completion of a few previous chain mail projects.

This is the most impressive new bracelet design I’ve made since Dragonscale. It expands and contracts like an accordion and feels so good on my wrist! I love this unadorned version, but I can also see a version with beads added in the middle openings or even drop beads along the outer edges. Can you spot the Byzantine building blocks?

An intriguing spiral chain! I love the two ridges that spiral around, each one a different color of metal. Next, I want to make some dangly earrings in a finer gauge—or maybe a zipper pull—or maybe icicles for my Christmas tree…
