Inverted Spiral Bracelet  (Intermediate to Advanced)

An intriguing spiral chain! I love the two ridges that spiral around, each one a different color of metal. Next, I want to try some dangly earrings in a finer gauge—or maybe a zipper pull—or maybe icicles for my Christmas tree…

Skill Level: Intermediate

Students will learn: The focus will be on learning the Inverted Spiral chain mail weave. We will review tools, resources, and chainmail skills.

Pre-requisite: Completion of several previous projects.

Tools designed for chain mail will be provided for class use but you may bring your personal tools.
Students will bring magnifiers for close-up work.

The kit includes step-by-step, illustrated instructions, 2 main sizes of jump rings, and a coordinating, quality toggle clasp.

There are sufficient rings for a 9-inch bracelet, and all rings are saw-cut and polished.

Tryzantine Bracelet or Necklace (Beginner Plus)

Dramatic or what! Think of this lovely weave as Byzantine on steroids. The sensational bead dangles are Swarovski pearls, wire wrapped with curved, textured, metal disks.

Skill Level: Beginner Plus

Students will learn: The focus will be on learning the Tryzantine chain mail weave. We will discuss tools, resources, and develop basic chainmail skills.

Pre-requisite: Completion of a couple of previous chainmail projects.

Tools designed for chain mail will be provided for class use but you may bring your personal tools.
Students will bring magnifiers for close-up work.

Are you ready for the challenge? Come and master this bold and beautiful, classic spiral chain. It’s an exquisite member of the spiral family that has always been challenging to get started—but I’ve discovered a really easy way to do this weave, and I’m eager to share it with you.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Students will learn: The focus will be on learning the Jens Pind Linkage chain mail weave. We will review tools, resources, and chainmail skills.

Pre-requisite: Completion of a couple of previous chainmail projects.

All Day Chainmail Intensive: Byzantine (All Levels)

Learn, Design, Apply and Share. If you are a relative beginner, you will use test rings to learn the Byzantine weave; if you are more advanced you will tackle the Byzantine Filigree weave. Then you will plan a project, select your rings (or a kit), and get started. You can work collaboratively with others if you wish, and share your work after class on a private Facebook page. There will be a variety of bracelet kits (at different levels of difficulty) available as an alternative to planning your own design.

Skill Level: All Levels, Beginner to Advanced

Students will learn: The focus will be on learning variations of the Byzantine chainmail weave. We will review tools, resources, and chainmail skills.

Pre-requisite: Completion of a previous chainmail project.

Tools designed for chain mail will be provided for class use but you may bring your personal tools.
Students will bring magnifiers for close-up work.

The teacher will bring pliers, a variety of jump rings in different metals and sizes, and a variety of Byzantine-based kits.

The kit includes step-by-step, illustrated instructions, copper ear wires, and copper jump rings.
Optional kits and packages of jump rings available from the instructor.
All rings are saw-cut and polished.

Elegant and feminine—and much admired! Its lace-like appearance is created by adding rings to both edges of the Parallel (Helm) weave.

Students will learn: The focus will be on learning the Celtic Dawn 

chain mail weave. We will discuss tools, resources, and develop basic chainmail skills.

The Classes (Click on a photo to see a larger view.)

  • All classes offer metal choices that include Sterling Silver, 10% Sterling Filled (sterling silver outer tube with a brass core), Jewelers Bronze (a zinc and copper alloy), fully hardened Copper, and Black Enameled Copper (Parawire) projects. This selection is a response to current fashion trends for jewelry in a variety of metals.
  • All classes emphasize careful work habits and professional-looking work. We’ll discuss how to locate related sources and resources, and we’ll think about creative options for future projects that build on the skills you are learning.
  • Kits include step-by-step instructions that are clearly illustrated with photos.

In chain mail classes I supply pliers (designed for chain mail) for your use. This is an opportunity to try out a variety of pliers. Of course, you may bring and use your own!


Skill Levels

    • Beginner means just that—I assume that you have never made a chain mail project (or that, whatever your experience, you just love the project).
    • Beginner Plus means that you have previously completed two or three chain mail projects.
    • Intermediate means that you have previously completed several chain mail projects.
    • Advanced means that you have previously completed several chain mail projects of increasing difficulty.
